OUR DOULAS

Our doulas are independent contractors with their own businesses who have partnered with Brave Doula Birth Services to enhance their knowledge and expertise while expanding their service areas. Each doula is thoroughly vetted, and/or mentored by Joanna Guzman, the owner of Brave Doula Birth Services, who has over 8 years of experience.

When you hire a doula through our agency, they receive real-time support from Joanna, benefiting from her experience and connections. Although Joanna may not be physically present at your birth, she is actively involved behind the scenes, providing your doula with the latest information regarding your care. You will have access to Evidence-Based Birth documents/ resources through your private client portal. Additionally, when you ask your doula questions, they may sometimes consult Joanna for answers—exclusively when booked through our agency!

Brandie McGowan

I have been a doula for over 10 years and have been honored to support 100+ families throughout their pregnancy journey. I have a wide range of experience from natural childbirth, VBAC's, IVF, multiples, surrogacy, and more. I am a Certified Childbirth Educator and Placenta Encapsulation Arts Specialist. I am experienced in Spinning Babies and have vast resources through the Healthy Start Coalition of Pinellas County. My goal is to empower, enhance, and embrace your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.

Tessa Nichols

Nice to meet you! I’m Tessa, and I’m thrilled for you and your family. I am a wife, creator of art, and, most importantly, daughter of Christ. From the moment I held my first nephew in 2014, I fell in love with babies and pregnancy. I believe that God values every single life that arrives on this earth, and I believe my calling is to make that arrival a peaceful and joyful time for everyone involved. I will support you through your birth journey with zero judgment and a lot of evidence-based information.

Candice R. Chery

Greetings! I am Candice Chery, better know as Candi in my community. I have extensive experience as a certified abortion doula through Birthworkers of Color, Childbirth Educator, Labor/Birth doula, Postpartum & Infant Care doula, Placenta Encapsulator all through ProDoula, Womb Practitioner and Death doula through In Grace University, and a Cloth Diaper Educator through Green Bum. Additionally, I am a Florida licensed Family Childcare Provider for over 15 years. I'm a strong advocate for breastfeeding and baby wearing. I'm passionate about empowering and supporting my community.

As a mother of two teenage girls, I enjoy traveling, participating in Caribbean carnivals, reading, exploring different cuisines, and listening to Soca music. i have roots in Trinidad and Tobago but was raised in Florida, blending the best of both "worlds".

My focus is to empower, educate, and provide support to my community in the full spectrum of pregnancy, emphasizing a holistic and spiritual approach to childbirth for the birthing individual, partner and baby.

My ultimate goal is to promote love and unity within our tribe, and I'm thrilled to connect with you and be part of your journey.

I’m a proud mother of two biological children and in the process of fostering. I’m a woman of God and I love to serve. I am a girls girl and I love to support women, especially in the period of motherhood. I’m here to nurture , support , and assist confidently in any way I can.
